Just one week left on public survey of bus network

Thousands of residents across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough have responded to an open survey of its bus services, with just under one week left to go.

The public survey on the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough bus network is currently live and will close on 15th December.

So far nearly 4,000 people have responded to the survey, a higher number than anticipated.

The survey was launched six weeks ago, on November 4th by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority as part of an ongoing radical reform of its bus network.

Both users and non-users of bus services are encouraged to put forward their views on what they think is working and what could be improved.

Respondents have commented on current levels of satisfaction with bus services and their support for a range of suggested improvements including more frequent services, an expansion of the bus network and new routes.  Other proposals for improving services put forward by the Authority in the survey include greater use of technology such as driverless shuttles and more use of alternative fuels such as electric buses.

The results of the survey with the public will be used as an evidence base for what needs to change, which will be taken forward by the Authority and developed into a plan for how to improve the bus network.

As part of the ongoing reform programme for the bus network, a bus reform task force met last week for the first time to agree next steps.

The inaugural meeting of the bus reform task force brought together representatives from across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough along with bus transport experts with knowledge and expertise from the region and further afield.
